One of the best compliments I could have ever received when I was a JW, was this. "You're not like other Jw's we know" I was shocked, I knew these people quite well. so I asked them to qualify their statement. They said "you dont really think your better than us".

i thought of one that happened to me, i think i was 16 and regular pioneering at the time.
i was in fs with my friend, i think she had to be about 18, and we were in a van with older married sisters, my friend and i were the only single ones.
there were 6 of us in this van and my friend and i of course were forced to sit in the back (meaning we couldn't escape by jumping out of a moving van), anyway, the conversation turned to discussing molestation.. the two oldest sisters sitting in the front then started going into detail about how they had been molested, and it wasn't just "i was molested by..." no they went into detail.. i was shocked!
Sorry, out of post limits so have to use Hubby's.... I can remember a car load of sisters and one of them just out of the blue, starts complaing that her husband doesn't give it [sex] to her enough and then going into details of how long it had been and how distracted and quick it had been the last few times....OMG!
Right in front of my small daughter, who thankfully wasn't old enough to understand the conversation. I was so embarrassed and outraged that I couldn't even go to the doors to talk to anyone, I just did the pretend to push the doorbell and went home early claiming headache.

Hi Lost. You might find the book 'The Gentile Times Reconsidered' by Carl Olaf Jonsson. He was a JW for decades. But he make some really good points in there. If you read the scriptures about the 'Gentile' governments, it's God that brings these Governments to their end/destruction, that is when the gentile times will end. I know that WT philosphy will claim that the gentile times ended in 1914, but you cannot take a physical prophecy regarding the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 c.e and turn it into a SPIRITUAL application.
History has shown us that in 1948 the United Nations gave the right to natural Jews to reoccupy Israel. They're being allowed to reoccupy Jerusalem was granted in 1967. But to this day the Arabs control the temple mount, so in a Physical application because the Arabs control the temple mount, it can still be claimed that Jerusalem is still being 'trampled on' by the gentile nations.

The above scan is from the Interpreter's Bible Dictionary pg 203 It's difficult to see but it say's "In the year 593 somewhere in Mesopotamia, during a thunderstorm, Ezekiel saw his wounderous vision of God and received the call to be a prophet to Israel." If Jerusalem was already destroyed in 607, than whats the point of getting Ezekiel to prophesy? The city is already Destroyed!!!!! It serves no point to give warnings to a people already dead and exiled!!!!!!!

My wife and I spent 2 days researching the Insight books to find a missed date, Nope, they (WT) covered their tracks very well. So we decided to spend the money and find better, research books, from a printery that does not have an agenda.
The Oct/Nov, 2011 WT carries 2 articles When was Anncient Jerasulam Destroyed? On pg 24 there is a footnote: Designed to confuse its readers, ( namely sleeping JWs) They insert the word HOWEVER.
FOOTNOTE: Business tablets exist for all the years traditionally attributed to the Neo-Babylonian kings. When the years that these kings ruled are totaled and a calculation is made back from the last Neo-Babylonian king, Nabonidus, the date reached for the destruction of Jerusalem is 587 B.C.E.However, this method of dating works only if each king followed the other in the same year, without any breaks in between.
The confusion is in the "HOWEVER. which immediately confuses the fact that all business records DO NOT end untill 587 b.c.e. MY question to you, dear. If Jerusalem was truly destroyed in 607 b.c.e. then would not the business records end at that point in time, instead of continuing untill 587 b.c.e.??? And yet with the assertion of HOWEVER, the WT offers absolutely no evidence that there was ever any break in the line of kings.

i don't post here often but do read daily, wanted to share a couple of interested things from recent co visit,.

Please take this rant for what it is worth. For the 40+ years of being in the 'TRUTH', I have taken many elders to task. All I got in return was," Leave it in Jehovahs hands, when it's His time he will take care of it" I told a elder one time "BULL SHIT, you have accepted Jehovahs invitation to be a elder and take care of his congeration, keep it clean and now when a nerve is being struck, you shirk your responsibility and pass it back to God. Brother your doing this and it disqualifies you as an elder".
Needless to say, It did not go well for me. But if you say yes to being an elder "man up" after all are you not in Christ's right hand? Imagine how Christ feels when this invitation is extended and then you do not do the work assigned. How HYPOCRITICAL!!!!!!!
